Scholarships for Australian-German Student Exchange (SAGSE)
This scholarship program was founded in 1967 and is open to students learning German in Years 11 and 12. Students complete an application and may be shortlisted for an interview to be selected for a scholarship. Victorian students also have the opportunity to host students from German which will be looked upon favourably if applying for a scholarship.
Successful recipients of a SAGSE scholarship travel to Germany in December to live with a family for 10 weeks. The group are lucky enough to experience the magic of Christmas in Germany. The group also travel to Berlin at the end of the exchange.
The return airfare and insurance are sponsored by companies and businesses. Families only need to pay for a passport and provide pocket money.
The AGTV has sponsored a SAGSE scholarship since 1979.
Returning students can become members of GASS and later the SAGSE Alumni.

World Exchange Program Australia (WEP)
The World Education Program Australia Ltd (WEP Australia) is an independent, incorporated, not-for-profit Australian student exchange organisation registered with the VRQA in Victoria and with relevant authorities in other states and territories.
Students in Years 9 to 12 can apply to participate in various short and long-term exchange programs including hosting students.
Students must have a minimum of one year of German language study at the time of application, plus ongoing study.
The cost of participating in an exchange to Germany varies according to length and includes airfares and 24-hour assistance.
